FTL Log Entry 12

Captain's Log, Day 12:

We emerged from our FTL jump but were still inside the nebula.  Our sensors picked up an automated scout.  It wasn't looking for us specifically, which was good news.  Maybe it was using the nebula as cover in order to prey on unsuspecting travelers, or maybe it was scouting for areas to expand Rebel territory.  Nonetheless, we were intruding on its scanning area, and were treated as hostile.

Since the scout didn't have any shields, Bjorn immediately targeted the enemy weapon systems in an attempt to disable them.  The enemy ship fired two missiles and a laser burst.  The laser was absorbed by our shields, and luckily the missiles hit empty rooms on either side of the weapon control room.  Our initial laser volley landed entirely on their weapon system, disabling their weapons.  As we waited for our weapons to charge, Jones took a stroll through the rooms struck by the missiles to make sure no extra damage was done.

One of the missiles had set fire to the room directly next to the weapon room, so Jones and Pipaluk set to work dispersing the flames.  The last thing we needed was a fire in the weapons room potentially blowing a hole through the hull.  Once the flames were taken care of, Pipaluk and Jones headed to the medbay to tend to their burns.

Our second volley landed all but one shot, and by our sensor estimates, it would only take one third of the next weapon burst to take out the drone ship and we could be safely on our way.  The third volley was the last, as we destroyed the automated ship.  We were able to recover 2 fuel cells, a missile, and 31 scrap from the wreckage - all in all a useful haul.

The next jump looks to still be inside a nebula, we can just hope that today was the worst of what we'll face in the days to come.  Once everyone is healed up and back at their posts, we'll just be waiting on the engines before we are able to make our next jump.  God only knows what awaits us.
