FTL Log Entry 16

Captain's Log, Day 16:

When we arrived, we picked up a transmission coming from the surface of a nearby planet.  We went down to check it out.

The first thing we noticed was the vast difference between this "market" and the small engineering station we had been at before.  There were all kinds of sights and smells to behold.  All sorts of people of all different species were offering up their belongings for trade, just to make a living.  There were meat markets selling the finest cuts of the local livestock, floral bouquets with aromas I don't have the words to describe, hell - there were pieces of art with colors I hadn't even seen before.  It was almost as if I could taste them, which was slightly unnerving.

We bartered for what fresh foodstuffs we could, and ended up bringing back enough to make a feast fit for a king.  They also had some weapons and ship systems, but again we didn't have the scrap to trade.  Maybe we'll be able to loop around back if the Rebels hold off long enough.  Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we'll have much time, we've started to pick up Rebel transmissions, so they can't be too far behind us.  I'll try to get back before their fleet gets here, but I know I won't be able to stomach seeing what they'll do to a settlement like this.  They'll go to ground first, burning out the houses, murdering women and children - people who have nothing to do with this stupid conflict.  It doesn't matter to them though, they're doing it in the name of "freedom."  While their strategy is effective from a military standpoint, I can't bear to see the aftermath.  I've seen enough in the few weeks we've been running.

Soon we jump back into the nebula in an effort to outrun the Rebel fleet, or at least prolong their search for us.  I just hope all these people don't die because two government "leaders" can't agree on a single ideology.
