FTL Log Entry 35
Captain's Log, Day 35:
We arrived at the long jump beacon and encountered a slaver. Apparently, he is well known in the region, as Stick was able to identify him very quickly. We were quickly offered some cheap "laborers."
Slavers are all scum. The approach I take with slavers is attempt to free the slaves. In this case, the entire crew stood with me. So we attacked.
By powering our weapons, we signaled we weren't going to stand for their activity in this sector. I sent Stick and Fleischy to deal with the crew on the other ship, as our sensors indicated this was a Zoltan slaver, and their weapons didn't look like they could penetrate our shields. They were able to get a laser blast off, but our shields absorbed that easily while the boarding crew made short work of the enemy crew.
A scan of the ship after the fight indicated that the slaves all died while we were trying to save them. Apparently the Zoltan slaver wasn't keeping his slaves fed properly, as they had all died of starvation. We did manage to recover 2 missiles, an unused drone, and 46 scrap from the ship before heading off to the next sector, which happened to be in the Engi homeworlds. Jones and Pipaluk's knowledge would definitely be beneficial in the upcoming battles.
