FTL Log Entry 30

Captain's Log, Day 30:

It's been a month since we set off on this mission, not knowing what would be lying in wait for us, all because we intercepted a weak transmission.  Now we're running for our lives, hoping we don't cause too much collateral damage in the process.

We came out of FTL to another distress beacon.  A small pirate ship was lodged between some larger rocks in an asteroid belt.  They had apparently been mining without the proper equipment.  While it was just pirates, I couldn't kill them in cold blood just for the scraps we would wrangle from their ship.  We fired a few volleys at the asteroids in an attempt to dislodge the ship.

The rocks shuddered, and the ship was able to pull free, though it took a beating since they didn't have shields.  We received a message thanking us, and they sent us two fuel canisters, two missiles, and 34 scrap before jumping away.

Looking at the map, it appeared we would be able to make it to the nearby store before the rebels were upon us, which was good news since our ship had taken a beating, and the hull was creaking in some odd places.  I warned everyone to stay away from the airlock just in case.
