FTL Log Entry 28

Captain's Log, Day 28:

We arrived at the next beacon to find a small Rock cruiser which appeared to be having engine problems.  They hailed us, and the Rock crew member regaled us with a story of how the Rock homeworld is run on lies and propaganda in order to keep the inhabitants in check.  This ship was attempting to leave, as they wanted nothing to do with that.

We showed him the data we collected while travelling, and he was impressed.  He decided to join us until he could find his own footing in the galaxy.

His name is Stick, and being that he's a Rockman, he's a hulking giant.  Having a Rock crew member will definitely have its advantages - he'll be great with putting out fires as he can't be burned, and only the mantis men can match his ferocity in combat.  I'll have to toy with the idea of sending a mixed crew over on boarding missions, especially to capture the enemy ship, possibly putting Bjorn back on manning the guns, freeing up Jones to perform repairs.

A quick scan of the nearby beacons showed a store and a distress beacon.  We plotted a course for the distressed ship, hoping to find a way to gather scrap for trade at the store.
